The Joy of Re-reading

Joan Wickersham – local author and Globe columnist – had an interesting article in the Globe last week on the joy of going back to the classics that you read when you were younger.  Given our recent discussion, it seemed relevant.  The link is below.  Do you re-read – is the result new insights or boredom?

  1. I saw this and loved her comments. I think she’s right in all she says. I’ve certainly had different perspectives when re-reading books like Catcher in the Rye as an older adult vs. teenager. Also The Grapes of Wrath — what a powerful political indictment besides a tragic story! I’d like to re-read several of the ones she mentions, especially Middlemarch. That’s a long one! Will I ever find the time?!
