ANOTHER CANCELLATION

Sorry to have to do this but Bagels and Books is cancelled for February and this time – because of uncertainty – the cancellation is indefinite.

The circumstances beyond my control resulted in some surgery that has me housebound for a while and this seems like a good time to take a look at the book group and see whether it is really meeting the interests of people who might like to come to a daytime book group.

So we are looking for feedback.

  1.  Are you interested in a daytime book group?
  2. What day and time works for you – is the morning better than the afternoon?
  3. What would you like to talk about?- this group has been subject based rather than reading and sharing a single book but perhaps that would be of more interest to you.
  4. If you would like to talk about a single book, what kind of book are you interested in
  5. If you like the idea of a subject with the freedom to read any book that interests you, what subjects intrigue you.
  6. Any other comments?

  1. So sorry! Hope you’re “up and about” soon.

    Here’s my feedback:

I prefer daytime to evening groups.

Think I prefer afternoon, except Monday. Thayer Library has a movie at 1 p.m. on Monday.

I like the subject based reading. I’ve been bragging about it to my other groups.

    Like the cook book groups.

    Enjoy mysteries.

Please keep me posted. I don’t get down to Maynard often.

  2. Have never attended, sadly, and time is limited– evening’s probably best. But I’ve always liked the idea of subject-based book groups. (We did this when our kids were young and homeschooling). They usually serve a different purpose — instead of a discussion and analysis between readers on one book, they tend to excite people about all the different books they could be reading. I think you ask a good question and I’ll be interested to see what people are most interested in. I hope you’ll share that here.
